Built on the former site of a public housing complex, the Crossing Apartments is a newly constructed rental complex for seniors 55 and over. This striking three-story, U-shaped community includes 56 replacement public housing units as well as 94 LIHTC apartments. The one- and two-bedroom units are designed with a full range of energy efficient features, such as Energy Star appliances and lighting fixtures. Tenants have access to a computer room, fitness center, health screening room, a library, among other resources. The expansive 7.7-acre campus also provides walking trails, a community garden, and a variety of other outdoor amenities.
This property is among several public housing projects that the BHA owns and has transformed with the use of HOPE VI and LIHTC financing. The development company, Golden Triangle Redevelopment Corporation, is a wholly owned subsidiary of BHA and responsible for its mixed finance projects. CDT funded this community through its forward commitment program.
